As you’re twirling your new lights around your gorgeous Christmas tree, and the house is filled with cinnamon and pine scented candles, it’s definitely starting to feel a lot like Christmas. As your kids are patiently counting down the days until Christmas to open their presents, here’s some fun Christmas activities you can do with your family to keep the little ones entertained in the meantime. This festive season, check out our list of the best Christmas activities that you can do with your friends and family as the jolliest of days gets closer. 

  1. Decorate A Gingerbread House

This one’s always a fun activity to do with your loved ones. Although it might get a little messy, it’s definitely worth the effort of cleaning up because what you get at the end is a gorgeous Gingerbread House that you’ll get to devour. There’s a reason why decorating gingerbread houses is a Christmas tradition. You can either buy a gingerbread house kit or make your own gingerbread house. Whichever option you choose, the kids will undoubtedly enjoy decorating the gingerbread house with all of their favorite sweets. To up the ante, you can even make it a little more competitive with this and make it a competition to see who makes the best gingerbread house. 

  1. Plan A Family Photoshoot 

Do you need an excuse to get the whole family dressed up for the holidays? Plan a fun family photo shoot for an activity you’ll remember for years to come. You can also use these photos for your Christmas card if you’d like. Prepare your family Christmas card early in the season so you have plenty of time to enjoy the holidays. Make a fun family tradition into a photo opportunity, or hire a professional photographer to help you capture the holiday spirit.

Salt dough ornaments are nothing new and we’re sure you’ve heard of these before. They’re a great way to get crafty with your Christmas tree ornaments and also helps you save a lot by making these ornaments yourself. These types of Christmas decorations that are handcrafted is definitely a great way to add a personal touch to your overall Christmas decor. They’re also a great activity to do with your family. Salt dough ornaments are a festive and simple craft to make. To get started, all you need is salt, flour, and water. Just remember to set up a craft table along the way to keep the mess to a minimum!

Similar to a potluck, a cookie exchange is a great way to get your friends and family to bring something for the Christmas party that you are hosting, and also benefits you in a way so you don’t have one less thing to worry about, the desserts. Have a fun time taste testing each of your guests cookies and seeing who comes up with the most uniquely decorated cookie! Cookie exchanges are enjoyable gatherings where you can catch up with friends and family while expressing your creativity. It’s especially suitable if you intend to involve your children so that they can try their hand at cookie decorating as well.

There’s a reason why ice skating is a Christmas tradition. It’s active, fun, and a chance to spend some time on the ice (especially since we don’t live in a snowy climate.) Ice skating is for sure an enjoyable activity that brings the family closer. There’re plenty of places that we can try ice skating in Singapore so you might want to check them out if you’re in for a day of fun (and a bit of chaos with trying to get your balance on the ice.) Ice skating is perhaps one of the coolest ways to experience a “White Christmas” this year.

As with most Christmases, we definitely know that setting up the Christmas tree itself is one of the best family bonding activities. Decorating your artificial Christmas tree is a great way to spend some quality time with the family while doing something that essentially is the focal point of Christmas. Depending on your theme for the year, you and your family can go all out and decorate the Christmas tree with your favorite Christmas ornaments and digging up all those Christmas baubles and Christmas decorations is sure to bring up some happy festive memories. You can even DIY your own Christmas ornaments if you have the time. It’s a great way to involve the entire family and be proud of the glorious Christmas tree that you’ve created.

This one’s a fun one for the kids. While we all know how excited they are to be counting down the days to open their presents on Christmas morning, you can amp up the excitement by creating or buying your own advent calendar. You can fill it with small gifts that you know your kids will enjoy such as sweet treats or toys small enough to fit in the calendar. It’s also a great way to count down the remaining days to Christmas and get everyone excited to open a new surprise as each day passes.

Gather your family for a movie marathon of all the classic Christmas movies. Whip up some Christmas bakes and treats to snack on while enjoying the many different movies. Make sure to include everyone by letting them choose one movie each so that everyone will get to enjoy it.
